Zombie

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Jamaican rum
  • 45 ml Gold Puerto Rican rum
  • 15 ml 151 rum
  • 20 ml Lime juice
  • 15 ml Falernum Caribbean syrup with lime, almond, and spices
  • 10 ml Grenadine
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • 20 ml Grapefruit juice
  • Garnish Mint sprig, cherry

Preparation

  1. Shake all ingredients except 151 rum with ice.
  2. Strain into a tiki mug over crushed ice. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Float 151 rum on top. Don't know how? Pour slowly over the back of a bar spoon held just above the surface so the liquid sits on top rather than mixing in.
  4. Garnish with mint sprig, cherry.

Origin Story

The Zombie cocktail was created in the 1930s by Donn Beach, the founder of the tiki bar trend, at his bar in Hollywood. It quickly gained fame for its potent mix of rums and fruity flavors, becoming a staple of tiki culture.
