Ingredients
- 45 ml Aged rum
- 45 ml Sweet vermouth e.g. Carpano Antica, Cocchi di Torino
- 5 ml Maraschino liqueur e.g. Luxardo
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Garnish Orange peel
Preparation
- Stir all ingredients with ice.
- Strain into a Nick & Nora glass. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
- Garnish with orange peel. Use a peeler or knife to cut a wide strip, avoiding the white pith. Twist it over the drink to release the oils, then drop it in.
Origin Story
The Rum Martinez is a variation of the classic Martinez cocktail, which is believed to be one of the precursors to the modern martini, gaining popularity in the late 19th century. This rum-based twist reflects the evolving cocktail landscape of the time.
