Ingredients
- 60 ml Gin
- 15 ml Dry vermouth e.g. Noilly Prat, Dolin Dry
- Garnish Lemon twist or olive
Preparation
- Stir ingredients with ice.
- Strain into a chilled martini glass. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
- Garnish with lemon twist or olive. Use a peeler or knife to cut a wide strip, avoiding the white pith. Twist it over the drink to release the oils, then drop it in.
Origin Story
The Martini's origins are somewhat murky, but it is generally thought to have been created in the late 19th century in the United States, possibly in San Francisco or New York. Its popularity surged during Prohibition and it has since become a symbol of sophistication.
