Jungle Bird (Modern)

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Blackstrap rum
  • 22.5 ml Campari
  • 45 ml Pineapple juice
  • 15 ml Lime juice
  • 15 ml Demerara syrup syrup made with raw cane sugar
  • Garnish Pineapple wedge

Preparation

  1. Shake all ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a rocks glass over ice. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Garnish with pineapple wedge. A wedge is a thick, lengthwise slice — usually a quarter or eighth of the fruit.

Origin Story

The Jungle Bird cocktail originated in the 1970s at the Aviary Bar in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as a tropical drink combining rum and fruit juices. The modern version has evolved while retaining its vibrant, tropical essence.
