John Collins

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Bourbon e.g. Maker's Mark, Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve
  • 30 ml Lemon juice
  • 15 ml Sugar syrup
  • 90 ml Soda water
  • Garnish Lemon wheel, cherry

Preparation

  1. Shake bourbon, lemon and syrup with ice.
  2. Strain into a Collins glass over ice. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Top with soda.
  4. Garnish with lemon wheel, cherry. A wheel is a thin, round cross-section slice of the whole fruit.

Origin Story

The John Collins is a variation of the Tom Collins, believed to have originated in the early 20th century, named after a bartender named John Collins. This drink reflects the enduring appeal of refreshing, fizzy cocktails.
