French 75

Ingredients

  • 30 ml Gin
  • 15 ml Lemon juice
  • 15 ml Sugar syrup
  • 60 ml Champagne
  • Garnish Lemon twist

Preparation

  1. Shake gin, lemon juice and syrup with ice.
  2. Strain into a flute. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Top with champagne.
  4. Garnish with lemon twist. Use a peeler or knife to cut a wide strip, avoiding the white pith. Twist it over the drink to release the oils, then drop it in.

Origin Story

The French 75 is thought to have originated during World War I, named after the French 75mm field gun due to its strong kick. It combines gin, lemon juice, sugar, and champagne, embodying a celebratory spirit.
