Trade Winds

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Gold rum
  • 15 ml Plum brandy
  • 15 ml Lime juice
  • 15 ml Coconut cream
  • 10 ml Sugar syrup
  • Garnish Lime wheel

Preparation

  1. Shake all ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Garnish with lime wheel. A wheel is a thin, round cross-section slice of the whole fruit.

Origin Story

The Trade Winds cocktail emerged during the tiki craze of the mid-20th century, a time when exotic flavors and rum-based drinks gained immense popularity in the United States. Its name evokes the maritime routes that brought spices and fruits from the tropics to the West.
