Ingredients
- 45 ml Gin
- 15 ml Dry vermouth e.g. Noilly Prat, Dolin Dry
- 15 ml Sweet vermouth e.g. Carpano Antica, Cocchi di Torino
- 7.5 ml Triple sec
- 7.5 ml Lemon juice
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Garnish Lemon twist
Preparation
- Shake all ingredients with ice.
- Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
- Garnish with lemon twist. Use a peeler or knife to cut a wide strip, avoiding the white pith. Twist it over the drink to release the oils, then drop it in.
Origin Story
The Journalist first appeared in Harry Craddock's 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book. A complex, layered drink that combines gin with both vermouths, a touch of orange liqueur, and citrus. It fell into obscurity for decades before being rediscovered during the craft cocktail revival of the 2000s.
