Rob Roy

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Blended Scotch e.g. Johnnie Walker, Famous Grouse
  • 30 ml Sweet vermouth e.g. Carpano Antica, Cocchi di Torino
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Garnish Brandied cherry e.g. Luxardo, Amarena

Preparation

  1. Stir all ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Garnish with brandied cherry.

Origin Story

The Rob Roy cocktail emerged in the late 19th century, named after the Scottish folk hero Rob Roy MacGregor. It was first popularized at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, coinciding with the 1894 premiere of a musical about the hero.
