Mint Julep

Ingredients

  • 75 ml Bourbon e.g. Maker's Mark, Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve
  • 15 ml Sugar syrup
  • 8 leaves Mint leaves
  • Garnish Mint bouquet

Preparation

  1. Gently muddle mint with syrup in a julep cup.
  2. Add bourbon and pack with crushed ice.
  3. Stir until frosted.
  4. Garnish with mint bouquet.

The Mint Julep originated in the Southern United States, with its first known recipes dating back to the 18th century. It became particularly popular as a refreshing drink during the hot summer months, especially in Kentucky.
