Gibson

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Gin
  • 10 ml Dry vermouth e.g. Noilly Prat, Dolin Dry
  • Garnish Cocktail onion

Preparation

  1. Stir ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Garnish with cocktail onion.

Origin Story

The Gibson is believed to have originated in the late 19th century, with various accounts attributing its creation to a San Francisco bartender or a New York socialite. It is distinguished from the Martini by the use of a pickled onion instead of an olive as a garnish.
