Irish Coffee

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Irish whiskey e.g. Jameson, Redbreast
  • 120 ml Hot coffee
  • 1 barspoon Demerara sugar
  • 30 ml Lightly whipped cream

Preparation

  1. Dissolve sugar in hot coffee.
  2. Add whiskey and stir.
  3. Float lightly whipped cream on top by pouring over the back of a spoon.

Origin Story

Irish Coffee was created in the 1940s at Shannon Airport in Ireland as a warming drink for travelers. Its blend of hot coffee, Irish whiskey, and cream quickly became a beloved classic, spreading to bars around the world.
