Income Tax Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Gin
  • 15 ml Sweet vermouth e.g. Carpano Antica, Cocchi di Torino
  • 15 ml Dry vermouth e.g. Noilly Prat, Dolin Dry
  • 15 ml Orange juice
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters

Preparation

  1. Shake all ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.

Origin Story

The Income Tax Cocktail is thought to have been created in the early 20th century, coinciding with the introduction of income tax in the United States in 1913. Its name cleverly plays on the financial burdens of the time, making it a fitting drink for the era.
