Genever Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Genever
  • 10 ml Sugar syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Garnish Lemon twist

Preparation

  1. Stir all ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Garnish with lemon twist. Use a peeler or knife to cut a wide strip, avoiding the white pith. Twist it over the drink to release the oils, then drop it in.

Origin Story

The Genever Cocktail dates back to the late 19th century, when genever, a Dutch spirit, was gaining popularity in cocktail culture. This drink showcases the unique flavor of genever, often enjoyed in the company of bitters and simple syrup, reflecting the era's appreciation for refined spirits.
