Chrysanthemum Classic

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Dry vermouth e.g. Noilly Prat, Dolin Dry
  • 22.5 ml Bénédictine
  • 1 barspoon Absinthe
  • Garnish Orange twist

Preparation

  1. Stir all ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a Nick & Nora glass. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Garnish with orange twist. Use a peeler or knife to cut a wide strip, avoiding the white pith. Twist it over the drink to release the oils, then drop it in.

Origin Story

The Chrysanthemum Classic emerged in the early 20th century, particularly known in New York City cocktail culture. It reflects the era's fascination with herbal liqueurs and vermouths, often enjoyed in elegant settings.
