Chrysanthemum

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Dry vermouth e.g. Noilly Prat, Dolin Dry
  • 22.5 ml Bénédictine
  • 3 drop Absinthe
  • Garnish Orange peel

Preparation

  1. Stir all ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a Nick & Nora glass. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Garnish with orange peel. Use a peeler or knife to cut a wide strip, avoiding the white pith. Twist it over the drink to release the oils, then drop it in.

Origin Story

The Chrysanthemum cocktail is thought to have been created in the early 20th century, possibly in New York City, as part of the cocktail renaissance. Its delicate blend of vermouth and Bénédictine showcases the era's appreciation for refined and herbal flavors.
