Amaretto Sour

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Amaretto
  • 22.5 ml Bourbon e.g. Maker's Mark, Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve
  • 30 ml Lemon juice
  • 10 ml Sugar syrup
  • 1 piece Egg white
  • Garnish Brandied cherry, lemon peel

Preparation

  1. Dry shake all ingredients.
  2. Shake with ice.
  3. Strain into a rocks glass over ice. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  4. Garnish with brandied cherry, lemon peel. Use a peeler or knife to cut a wide strip, avoiding the white pith. Twist it over the drink to release the oils, then drop it in.

Origin Story

The Amaretto Sour gained popularity in the 1970s and 1980s as a sweet and tangy cocktail. It combines amaretto, an almond-flavored liqueur, with citrus flavors, making it a favorite among many.
