Kentucky Mule

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Bourbon e.g. Maker's Mark, Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve
  • 20 ml Lime juice
  • 120 ml Ginger beer
  • Garnish Lime wedge

Preparation

  1. Build in a copper mug over ice.
  2. Add bourbon and lime juice.
  3. Top with ginger beer.
  4. Stir gently.
  5. Garnish with lime wedge. A wedge is a thick, lengthwise slice — usually a quarter or eighth of the fruit.

Origin Story

The Kentucky Mule is a regional variation of the Moscow Mule, substituting bourbon for vodka, and reflects the growing appreciation for bourbon in craft cocktails.
