Glühwein

Ingredients

  • 180 ml Red wine
  • 2 barspoon Sugar
  • 1 piece Orange peel
  • 1 piece Cinnamon stick
  • 4 piece Cloves
  • 1 piece Star anise
  • Garnish Orange slice

Preparation

  1. Heat all ingredients gently without boiling.
  2. Strain into a glass. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Garnish with orange slice.

Origin Story

Glühwein, or mulled wine, has roots in Germany and has been enjoyed since the Middle Ages as a way to warm up during the cold winter months. It is often served at Christmas markets across Europe.
