Fog Cutter

Ingredients

  • 45 ml White rum
  • 15 ml Cognac
  • 15 ml Gin
  • 60 ml Orange juice
  • 30 ml Lemon juice
  • 15 ml Orgeat
  • 15 ml Amontillado sherry
  • Garnish Mint sprig

Preparation

  1. Shake all ingredients except sherry with ice.
  2. Strain over crushed ice into a tiki mug. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Float sherry on top. Don't know how? Pour slowly over the back of a bar spoon held just above the surface so the liquid sits on top rather than mixing in.
  4. Garnish with mint sprig.

The Fog Cutter cocktail originated in the mid-20th century at Trader Vic's, a renowned Tiki bar. Its complex mix of spirits and juices was designed to transport drinkers to a tropical paradise, embodying the escapism of the Tiki movement.
