Ingredients
- 45 ml White rum
- 15 ml Cognac
- 15 ml Gin
- 60 ml Orange juice
- 30 ml Lemon juice
- 15 ml Orgeat
- 15 ml Amontillado sherry
- Garnish Mint sprig
Preparation
- Shake all ingredients except sherry with ice.
- Strain over crushed ice into a tiki mug. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
- Float sherry on top. Don't know how? Pour slowly over the back of a bar spoon held just above the surface so the liquid sits on top rather than mixing in.
- Garnish with mint sprig.
Origin Story
The Fog Cutter cocktail originated in the mid-20th century at Trader Vic's, a renowned Tiki bar. Its complex mix of spirits and juices was designed to transport drinkers to a tropical paradise, embodying the escapism of the Tiki movement.
