Boulevardier (Cognac)

Ingredients

  • 30 ml Cognac
  • 30 ml Sweet vermouth e.g. Carpano Antica, Cocchi di Torino
  • 30 ml Dry vermouth e.g. Noilly Prat, Dolin Dry
  • 2 dashes Orange bitters
  • 1 dash Peychaud's bitters
  • Garnish Lemon twist

Preparation

  1. Stir all ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Garnish with lemon twist. Use a peeler or knife to cut a wide strip, avoiding the white pith. Twist it over the drink to release the oils, then drop it in.

Origin Story

The Boulevardier, particularly in its Cognac variation known as Old Hickory, has roots in the early 20th century, emerging as a sophisticated cocktail in American bars. It reflects the classic combination of spirits and bitters, appealing to cocktail enthusiasts.
