Ingredients

  • 45 ml Gin
  • 15 ml Maraschino liqueur e.g. Luxardo
  • 10 ml Crème de violette
  • 20 ml Lemon juice
  • Garnish Brandied cherry e.g. Luxardo, Amarena

Preparation

  1. Shake all ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Don't know how? Pour the drink through a strainer (or the built-in strainer on your shaker) to catch the ice and any solids.
  3. Garnish with brandied cherry.

Origin Story

The Aviation cocktail emerged in the early 20th century, with its first recorded recipe appearing in a cocktail book published in 1916. It is often credited to bartender Hugo Ensslin at the Hotel Wallick in New York.
