Basil Smash

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Gin
  • 22.5 ml Lemon juice
  • 15 ml Simple syrup
  • 8 leaves Basil leaves

Preparation

Muddle basil with syrup and lemon juice. Add gin, shake with ice and double strain into a rocks glass over ice.

Origin story

The Basil Smash emerged in the mid-2000s in Germany, crafted by bartender Jörg Meyer at his bar Le Lion. This cocktail quickly gained popularity for its refreshing combination of gin and fresh basil.
